A fun way to try one's patience. During install I noticed that the pastel wavy screen was doing an odd dance, in that it danced for a bit, then paused, etc. Turns out the CPU is running 80%+, all the time. It's even worse than it sounds, though I suppose 80% sounds bad.
Nothing showing in the perf mon applets. System idle claims most of that use (normal as that is), say 75%, with taskmgr much of the remaining, and dvm.exe about 3%.
vista b5384 ultimate, x64 version NF3 250, amd64 cpu, 1.5 GB memory, 200 GB disk
The same machine, with a different disk in, runs xp64 just fine.

Looks like it's video driver related. I put on nvidia 88.61 and the CPU is down to 10-20% (always 80%+ on the ms video driver). The mouse lags a bit every few seconds. For some reason I have a phantom second (inactive) monitor in Display Settings (in both ms's and nvidia's geforce driver, but not the stock svga driver). Not that much fun.
